make acid reflux a thing of the past

Jin Shin Jyutsu for acid reflux

I am not prone to having symptoms of acid reflux (at least, not since I started practicing Jin Shin Jyutsu), but I work with a lot of people who do so I know that many struggle with it. The good news is that there is a Jin Shin Jyutsu flow that is very helpful to ease the discomforts of acid reflux.

Symptoms of acid reflux might include: heartburn (a burning sensation in the chest), bringing up food or sour liquid, chest and/or upper abdominal discomforts, having difficulty swallowing, and a feeling of having a lump in the throat that won’t go away.

Working with the Diaphragm energy

In essence, reflux means to flow back or return. “The Gastroesophageal reflux is when what’s in your stomach backs up into your esophagus. In normal digestion, your lower esophageal sphincter (LES) opens to allow food into your stomach. Then it closes to stop food and acidic stomach juices from flowing back into your esophagus.” (Source: WEbMD)

What happens with acid reflux in terms of energy is that it is all coming up the front when it should be going down. So the following Jin Shin Jyutsu exercise will help the exhale and therefore help the energy descend rather than ascend.

For that, it is important to open up the waistline. At the waistline, we find the diaphragm. The physical aspect of the diaprhragm is a very important muscle that helps us breathe. When it tenses up it affects our breathing, so we really want to keep it relaxed and happy and the following Jin Shin Jyutsu exercise really helps us do that.

There is another exercise that is also helpful for the stomach: Clear Stomach Upset with Jin Shin Jyutsu.
