Jin Shin Jyutsu How To Practice this Art

Introduction
I often describe Jin Shin Jyutsu as ‘Acupuncture with the fingers’, but it involves no manipulation, pressure or massage, so it is safe for every body from 0-100+ years of age. This ancient healing Art harmonises and balances the life energy in the body by using the fingers and hands (over clothing) to alleviate symptoms of discomfort and disharmony. This ‘energy medicine’ is a gentle, yet powerful tool for health and well-being which is simple to learn and has immediate benefit.

Learning Jin Shin Jyutsu engages one in self study, self help. Through the process of ‘Now Know MYSELF’ we recognize the wisdom of the body, and we learn to interpret the messages provided and utilize them to restore balance. Jin Shin Jyutsu can be applied by a practitioner, but it is also powerful and effective as self help.

The Jin Shin Jyutsu Treatment (by a Practitioner)
The client lies face up and fully clothed. The JSJ practitioner uses light touch on the body over particular energy sites called Safety Energy Locks along energy pathways. Two energy sites are held simultaneously until the tension or congestion is released. Then one hand is moved to another energy site, and along areas of the body where there is tension. Each energy site can take seconds or minutes to release and re-energise. Treatments generally take 45 minutes to an hour.

Repeated treatments depend on the individual and the particular situation. Often it is for no particular ‘problem’, but as a preventative ‘tune up’ or just to treat oneself to a nurturing, relaxing and revitalising hour. After several Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments, a person can really feel the difference and has a sense of real balance and vitality, so they are better able to distinguish when they are out of balance.

Jin Shin Jyutsu Self Help
Involves the same procedure as above, only difference is that one places ones own hands on the body.

Jin Shin Jyutsu Training

Many people ask me, where do I go to find out more about Jin Shin Jyutsu? Well, there is a structured Jin Shin Jyutsu training programme available in many countries. Some people go straight into the 5-day basic seminar with one of the qualified Jin Shin Jyutsu instructors – after three of these 5-day seminars students receive a practitioner’s certificate. Others like to start off with self-help classes and these are available from ‘advanced’ students all over the world – Mary Burmeister also wrote a series of self-help books that are available from various sources.

Q&A: Jin Shin Jyutsu Book A Touch of Healing

Question: What you refer to in ‘I go to the 16,17,18,19 Flow in Text 1.’ (relating to the older post for toothache see here) can that also be found in a translation of the jin shin jyutsu book ‘the touch of healing’; the only book I have. WKR

Answer: Dear WKR – Since you asked the question in relation to the post about toothache, I can tell you that yes, there is some information in Alice Burmeister’s Jin Shin Jyutsu book called the Touch of Healing (available on Amazon) – on pages 103-105 she talks about the Large Intestine Function Energy. One can see from the diagram that the energy connects the teeth and the abdominal cavity – that’s why a healthy digestive system also means healthy teeth. Use the first step of the Large Intestine Flow: Place your left hand on the right SEL 11 and at the same time, hold your left index finger with the right hand (see the Safety Energy Locks Chart here) and vice versa for the other side. Hope this helps. – Astrid

Q&A: How to Boost Your Immune System with Jin Shin Jyutsu

Question: Is there a jin shin jyutsu hold to boost the immune system? I have looked at my diet and other things, but someone told me that JSJ can help too.

Answer: Every Jin Shin Jyutsu hold and FLOW will help boost the immune system as it helps mind, body and spirit in a holistic way. However, there is a special function hold which is ‘especially designed’ to boost the immune system. It is very simple.

Place your left hand over your right shoulder (so that your fingers are over SEL11 and SEL 3) and place your right hand on your right groin (SEL 15). Vice versa for the other side. Hold for a few minutes, or at least 20-30 minutes at a time. If you have a sore throat, this will clear it in minutes. Hold the side of the sore throat. Sometimes, my sore throats clears up in SECONDS with this powerful Jin Shin Jyutsu Hold.

The Power of The Main Central

Ever feel like your energy’s all over the place? Too much in the head or too much in the legs and feet? Your body just doesn’t feel right. I had a day like that yesterday. I didn’t feel myself at all. It was very uncomfortable. So I asked my body to tell me what it needed, and the Main Central Vertical Hamonising Energy Function came up loud and clear! I went through the whole exercise which took me about an hour, and boy! did I feel like a new person after it.

In Jin Shin Jyutsu you can use Main Central for EVERYTHING, as self help and as a practitioner. It is POWERFUL. It is WONDERFUL.

You’ll find the exercise in a previous post – click on Main Central for more.

Case 1: First Aid for Migraines

I started suffering from debilitating migraines approximately ten years ago, (when I was going ‘against my grain’ of course). I took ibuprofen on a regular basis, not to alleviate the migraines, but to prevent them.

At the time, I was already studying holistic and complementary therapies, and I came to the conclusion very quickly that this was ‘not a good idea’. My search began for a natural therapy that would cure my migraines.

An acquaintance suggested I try Jin Shin Jyutsu. I looked at him blankly and said: ‘Gin what?’ He lent me the book A Touch of Healing by Alice Burmeister, and a whole new world opened up to me. A world, where I began to Get to KNOW (Help) MYSELF. It was so wonderfully simple, and so effective. After a time, I was able to clear my migraines in minutes. They then became more infrequent, then more rare, then they stopped.

To alleviate headaches and migraines, place your fingers at the base of your thumb. Use the right hand fingers on the left base of thumb or vice versa. Hold for a few minutes, or until there is relief. Do this first step in the case of a migraine, and then hold the outsides of the heels (place the right fingers on the right heel just below the ankle and the same on the left side).

Also, drink lots of water, cut down on starches and avoid typical ‘trigger’ foods like: coffee, alcohol (especially red wine), oranges, chocolate and very spicey foods.
