hold this part of the body for arthritis relief

Jin Shin Jyutsu for Arthritis

You’d be forgiven for saying that these are ‘common’ problems as we get older: painful, uncomfortable, or even swollen joints and stiffness in the body. It becomes harder to get going, especially first thing in the morning and after sitting for long periods of time. But wait! All is not lost, because there is a way to help our body with a Jin Shin Jyutsu hold for arthritis.

A special energy that helps us

There is an energy pathway in the body that circulates all around the body.

It travels up from the foot, along the leg, back, shoulder, neck and face, around the head, down the back of the head and shoulder, along the arm and into some of the fingers, before travelling down the front of the body and along the legs.

I mention all the places that it goes, not to confuse, but to show that this special energy really goes everywhere in the body.

And that is the key. Because this energy travels everywhere, it can help ease pain, discomfort and stiffness in the joints anywhere in the body. Of course, arthritis can affect different parts of the body, usually the hands, knees, hips, feet and spine.

One Jin Shin Jyutsu exercise for arthritis (and an alternative)

If arthritis is something that you are worried about, or if it is already affecting your life, then try this Jin Shin Jyutsu exercise.

It does involve holding, or ‘jumper cabling’, energy sites on the feet, and I realise that this might sometimes be a challenge, so I do show an alternative hold to start working with this Jin Shin Jyutsu exercise for arthritis.

This hold is also great for pain relief anywhere in the body. See also this post: Natural Pain Relief Using The Hands with Jin Shin Jyutsu

Using two energy sites (Safety Energy Locks)

For this Jin Shin Jyutsu exercise, we employ two Safety Energy Locks on the heel.

Safety Energy Lock 5 is on the inside of the heel, just below the ankle on the big-toe side.

Safety Energy Lock 16 is directly opposite, on the outside of the heel.

This will probably be the most comfortable hold for you to start with, so begin here. Practise it regularly until you feel more comfortable working with the other side. Then you can try moving down to the feet.g the other side. Then you can try moving down to the feet.
