This Art is Ours to Use

No matter where I am, or where I travel to, I always see people in a perfect Jin Shin Jyutsu self help hold. They are helping themselves, but they don’t even know it!

Recently, I sat next to a gentleman on a (short) flight. He was at least 6 foot tall, the flight was full and he had to cram himself into a seat next to the window. However, he had a very calm energy about him, and he did not fidget. Then I saw that he was holding his thumb! So I also held my thumb, to help us both!

Isn’t it comforting to know that helping MYSELF is as simple as holding a thumb or a finger? When I first started working with this Art, I was disbelieving. I said to myself: ‘It can’t be that simple. I will start with something much more complicated so I get REALLY good results.’

The interesting thing is that some of my most powerful results have come from spending a few minutes just holding a finger!

I encourage you to choose one of your thumbs or fingers (or let IT choose you!!) – to close your eyes and hold it for a few minutes in a quiet space. The last time I suggested this to a friend, she was amazed to discover that a whole HOUR had gone by – after which she felt like new….

But don’t take my word for it. As Mary always used to say: ‘Be your own testimony.’

Are you a Doctor?!?

Most of us have suffered leg cramp at some point in our lives and we know how excruciating that pain is.

Well, imagine being up on stage in front of hundreds of people and you get severe cramp, not just in one leg but in both!

This actually happened to someone recently at a seminar I attended.

The poor guy had to get off the stage and sit down – he was in extreme pain and looked very distressed. Immediately, a whole lot of people gathered around him, trying to ‘help’.

I managed to cut through the group, quietly knelt down and put my fingers at the back of his knees and held on . Meanwhile it was complete chaos around him. All sorts of well meaning people asking if he was okay and offering all sorts of advice. At the same time, people shouting at me: ‘Are you a doctor? Are you a doctor?!?!?!’

I reply: ‘No, I’m a  Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner.’ And kept holding the backs of his knees.

After a few minutes he calmed down, then I asked if the pain had gone. He said that yes, it had – so I quietly got up and left him. I don’t think he even realised what had happened. And that’s the way it should be – so quick, so easy, that you don’t even have time to wonder about it. It just IS – PAIN GONE.

Self Help for FAST relief of Leg Cramps

Ooohhhh the pain. Ooohhh the agony. Most of us have woken up at some time or other with cramp in the leg. A few nights ago it was my right calf muscle that seized up. Thank goodness I knew what to do. I immediately dug my fingers into the backs of my knees and held on for dear life. Within 10 to 15  seconds, I promise you, no more than that, the cramp eased and disappeared. It was a pretty bad one, so my lower leg felt sore for a while but I could go back to sleep.

Remember this GEM of a Jin Shin Jyutsu Self Help Hold when you have cramp in the leg, or muscle cramp anywhere in the body for that matter! It WORKS!

Jin Shin Jyutsu Self Help Hold for Pain

Whether it’s a light pain or a very intense pain, there is a special energy that takes care of the pain no matter where it is in the body. By placing the right fingers on the inside of the heel and the left fingers on the outside of the heel (just under the ankle bone) alleviates any kind of pain, from a pain in the toe to pain after surgery. I have seen it! It works –

Someone wrote me recently telling me about the miraculous effect of the ‘Pain Hold’:
‘….Because of the blocked veins she now has a deep wound in the right big toe. The nurse had been poking around in it because some bone is exposed. My friend was in great pain, and I applied the hold on the heel. After a while when we were talking her face lit up. ‘It is gone she wispered. The pain is gone!’

Q&A: Jin Shin Jyutsu for Hemorrhoids

Question: I suffer from hemorroids, and I would like to look at natural ways to combat them, rather than using over-the-counter creams. I know a bit about JSJ but not a lot – is there anything simple I can do? MJ

Answer:  Dear MJ – I have been meaning to put some information up on hemorrhoids for a long time now, so thank you for your question. The first thing is that you need to drink a lot of water – this will help tremendously. As hemorrhoids are a sign of de-hydration, drink lots of spring water during the day, and have a glass of water with your meals, or a herbal tea like fennel (very good for the digestion). Also, make sure you include fiber in your diet – including raw vegetables. A vitamin and mineral supplement once a day wouldn’t go amiss either. Also very important is moderate exercise such as walking, or jumping gently on a trampoline.

In terms of Jin Shin Jyutsu holds there is one hold that works like a gem to clear hemorrhoids. You simply hold the outside of your knees (Safety Energy Lock 8 eight) see the photo. Take your left hand and curl your fingers under the ligament that is on the outside/back of the knee so that your fingers fall on the back of the knee, but not quite in the middle. At the same time, curl your right hand/fingers under the right knee. You can fall asleep on your side doing this hold, or sit in a chair.

Self Help for Pain: Fast Relief with JSJ Hold

A headache, toothache, ear ache, back pain, knee pain, nerve pain, ANY PAIN, can be alleviated with the Jin Shin Jyutsu hold for pain relief. It is as powerful as morphine. Obviously, continuous pain that won’t go away needs to be checked by a physician, but while you wait for them to treat you, there is something empowering that YOU can do for YOURSELF.

Self Help for Tinnitus with simple JSJ Hold

That maddening sound inside the ear – like a buzzing noise – is called tinnitus and it can drive one crazy. I find it is made worse when I am tired, or when I’ve been on the phone quite a lot (mobile phones are even worse!).

Most Jin Shin Jyutsu holds or flows will help to calm the noise. However, I find that holding the ring finger is quite simple and effective way to radically subdue the tinnitus, especially just before sleep.

Case 4: High Blood Pressure

A friend of mine was well into her pregancy. She went for a check up and was told that her blood pressure was unusually high. She had been on one of my Jin Shin Jyutsu self-help courses so I reminded her to hold her MIDDLE finger a lot.

Some time later I asked her how her blood pressure was, and she told me that her next check up it was back to normal.

Quick and easy. Effortless reality.

Case 2: First Aid for Pain Relief

I have experienced many incidents when I was able to manage and control pain in my body with Jin Shin Jyutsu holds. It constantly amazes me that knowing where to put the hands on the body can have such a dramatic and speedy effect!

This is one of my most dramatic and personal experiences of pain relief: My father was in hospital and had just come out of surgery when I got to his bedside. The anaesthetic was wearing off and he was in much pain. His face was all contorted and he was hanging on for dear life to the side rails of his bed.

I went straight for his right foot. I placed my RIGHT fingers on the INSIDE of his RIGHT heel (below the ankle), and my LEFT fingers on the OUTSIDE of his RIGHT heel (below the ankle). I held, without any pressure, without any massage. (For the left foot, hold the inside of the heel with the right fingers and the outside of the heel with the left fingers – same as the right)

Within a few moments (literally) my father opened his eyes, exhaled, and said: ‘Yes, that’s definitely better.’ After a while I let the nurse take over with the morphine….
