In Jin Shin Jyutsu, a sequence of HOLDS is referred to as a FLOW.

A wonderful Jin Shin Jyutsu Flow

This sequence of holds or FLOW works with the energy pathway of the spleen.

The physical spleen is located in the upper left part of the abdomen, behind the left ribs. It is the biggest lymphatic organ in the body, so it’s really useful to clean the body. One of its main roles is to filter our blood and clean out old blood cells. The spleen is also closely linked to our immune system. It is truly a wonderful organ for the body.

If you are one of those people who have had their spleen removed, then you can still support the spleen energy by doing the spleen flow.

Practice the spleen flow every day and feel the difference!

It’s particularly helpful to:

  • Ease tiredness, fatigue (increase stamina throughout the day)
  • Calm mental stress
  • Calm the nervous system
  • Regulate the body’s temperature: If you’re cold, do the spleen flow to warm the body. If you’re hot, do the spleen flow to cool the body. The spleen flow helps us adapt to seasonal changes.
  • Clean the body
  • Help the digestion

Practiced frequently, the spleen flow can also help balance blood sugar levels.

Life before and after the Spleen Flow

It really is one of my favourite all-time flows to do every day. As I often say when I am teaching Jin Shin Jyutsu: “For me, there was life before the spleen flow and life after. And the two looked very different! I would often feel sleepy after lunch and not have much energy or concentration in the afternoon. When I learnt the spleen flow, that all changed very quickly.”

Hold each position for 2-3 minutes or until you feel you want to move to the next position.
