Jin Shin Jyutsu Q&A: Self help for Sinus Congestion Pain

Question: Is there a hold for congestion/sinus problems?

Answer: There is no pain worse than a real honest to goodness sinus headache. I had one a few years ago, and  it was thanks to some Jin Shin Jyutsu holds and salt water that I was able to clear the excruciating pain.  The salt water bit is not very  ‘appetising’, but I liken it to taking a plunge in the ocean. Take some natural sea salt in warm water (spring preferably) and inhale: one nostril at a time and a little at a time till you get the hang of it. The salt water will drain the sinuses (or that’s the idea anyway!). No need to overdo it, leave for a while and then try again after a few minutes. STOP if you don’t get any relief!

There are also some dynamic  Jin Shin Jyutsu holds for sinus relief. The key energy site is at the top of the shoulder blade on the side of the spine, it’s the number 3 energy site: our natural antibiotic.

Start by holding this energy site, left hand on left side, right hand on right side.  Then take the left hand to the base of the skull on the left side (energy site 4) and place your right hand on your forehead above your right eyebrow. After a few minutes, move the right hand onto your right eyebrow.

After a few minutes, move the right hand /fingers to your right cheek, close to your nose (energy site 21). A few minutes after that, move the right hand/fingers to the base of your collarbone, close to the sternum (energy site 22).

This is to help clear the right side. To help clear the left side, reverse the left and right hands and sides.

If you suffer from chronic sinus discomfort, it might be worth looking into the Tissue Salts by Dr Schuessler.  In a nutshell, number 2  helps aching sinuses, 3 and 7 help blocked sinuses. Sinusitis is helped by numbers 5 and 9. More about these wonderful Tissue Salts in a separate post.
