Very often, people who discover this Universal Art with roots in ancient teachings, ask me where they can learn more about it. They might have had Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments and started self help with the Practitioner.

A lot of my clients want to know more once they’ve experienced the power of some of the self help holds.

As a starting point, I always recommend The Touch of Healing by Alice Burmeister.

The next step

Then, you can enrol in a self help class – there are many Jin Shin Jyutsu Practitioners around the world who offer these classes based on Mary Burmeister’s three self help books above.

Then there is the possibility to enrol on a five day basic seminar with an authorized Jin Shin Jyutsu instructor. There are currently 24 official Jin Shin Jytusu instructors who are authorised to teach the 5 day Basic Seminars and Special Topic Classes.

Some of the group originally learned from Mary Burmeister herself and they include: Muriel Carlton, Wayne Hackett, Jed Schwartz, Philomena Dooley and others. There are instructors who offer classes in Portuguese, Spanish, German, Dutch,  and French. There is also now an instructor who offers classes in Japanese.

The five day classes are a combination of theory and practice. Each student receives and gives a Jin Shin Jyutsu treatment each day – the practical sessions are usually quite a life changing experience in themselves!

The Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu® Physio-Philosophy


WHAT IS IT?
Jin Shin Jyutsu® physio-philosophy is an Art of harmonising the life energy in the body by using the fingers and hands (over clothing) on specific energy sites. The principles of this Art are as old as mankind, researched and developed in Japan about 100 years ago by Master Jiro Murai. I often describe it as ‘Acupuncture with the fingers’ but no pressure, massage or manipulation of the muscles is necessary.

It alleviates stress/tensions, eliminates fatigue, relieves pain, balances emotions, boosts the immune system and promotes mental alertness. The treatment is a pleasurable experience, generally one of deep relaxation, and the benefits are usually felt immediately.

Jin Shin Jyutsu employs 26 energy sites or ‘safety energy locks’ along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one or more of the paths become blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually dis-harmonise the complete path of energy flow. Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to mind, body, and spirit.

WHAT CAN IT HELP WITH?
Jin Shin Jyutsu releases tensions and acts as a deep cleaner: it detoxifies, re-balances and re-generates the whole being. As there are no contraindications, it is safe for children, pregnant mothers, the elderly and infirm. It is also a great support for people on medication and those undergoing cancer or other treatments. It can alleviate stress-related conditions and I have found it particularly helpful for dealing with physical and mental exhaustion, a run-down immune system, anxieties, as well as pain and discomfort.

Jin Shin Jyutsu How To Practice this Art

Introduction
I often describe Jin Shin Jyutsu as ‘Acupuncture with the fingers’, but it involves no manipulation, pressure or massage, so it is safe for every body from 0-100+ years of age. This ancient healing Art harmonises and balances the life energy in the body by using the fingers and hands (over clothing) to alleviate symptoms of discomfort and disharmony. This ‘energy medicine’ is a gentle, yet powerful tool for health and well-being which is simple to learn and has immediate benefit.

Learning Jin Shin Jyutsu engages one in self study, self help. Through the process of ‘Now Know MYSELF’ we recognize the wisdom of the body, and we learn to interpret the messages provided and utilize them to restore balance. Jin Shin Jyutsu can be applied by a practitioner, but it is also powerful and effective as self help.

The Jin Shin Jyutsu Treatment (by a Practitioner)
The client lies face up and fully clothed. The JSJ practitioner uses light touch on the body over particular energy sites called Safety Energy Locks along energy pathways. Two energy sites are held simultaneously until the tension or congestion is released. Then one hand is moved to another energy site, and along areas of the body where there is tension. Each energy site can take seconds or minutes to release and re-energise. Treatments generally take 45 minutes to an hour.

Repeated treatments depend on the individual and the particular situation. Often it is for no particular ‘problem’, but as a preventative ‘tune up’ or just to treat oneself to a nurturing, relaxing and revitalising hour. After several Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments, a person can really feel the difference and has a sense of real balance and vitality, so they are better able to distinguish when they are out of balance.

Involves the same procedure as above, only difference is that one places ones own hands on the body.

The Main Central – Our Total Harmonizer

Mary says: ‘The Main Central connects us directly to the universal source of energy and harmonises our total being. The energy flows DOWN the front of the body and UP the back of the body, in an oval circuit, creating the ‘0’ – the zero – the nothingness and the oneness from which point everything is possible. The Main Central is the primary harmonizing energy flow in the body.’ If you practise this exercise every day you will be regenerating and revitalising every aspect of your being.

’26 Safety Energy Locks: The KEYS to our HARMONY’

‘Jin Shin Jyutsu employs 26 ‘Safety Energy Locks’ (or energy sites as I sometimes call them), along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one or more of the paths become blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonise the complete path of the energy flow.’

‘Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to the whole being.’ Holding these energy sites in a combination of special sequences is what is termed a ‘Flow’.
