Self help for Worry and Insomnia

During periods of stress, I sometimes find it hard to fall asleep. My mind starts WORRYING about lots of things. So when I have to get up in the morning, my mind feels fuzzy, my body feels heavy and I just have no enthusiasm for the day ahead.

Luckily, when I can’t sleep because I’m WORRYING, I simply hold my THUMB.

If you suffer from insomnia, hold your left or right THUMB for a few minutes. Do it whenever you have your hands free during the day, and when you lie in bed at night.

Apart from INSOMNIA, holding the THUMB also helps the following:

* Digestion
* Headaches (especially the base of the thumb)
* Stress and nerves
* Skin surface
* Stomach and spleen energy
* When have to SIT a lot
Note: Sitting overloads the stomach & spleen energy. Results in bloating and heaviness in the abdominal area

Also helps to:
* Ground and calm
* Nurture
Note: especially for MOTHERS who give, give, give and need to receive a bit of nurturing themselves!

Q&A: How Long Do I Hold My Fingers For?

Question: Hello i am a user of Jinshin holds i would like to know how long one should hold the fingers and how many times in day. thanks for your reply to my query

Answer: The more you hold your fingers the more of a cumulative ‘cleaning’ and regenerative effect there is. Hold your thumb or fingers whenever your hands are free – while watching a movie, while waiting for a bus etc. For instance, you will definitely notice the effects of holding a finger or one of your thumbs for an hour if you close your eyes and sit or lie quietly…. I like to do this with the thumb – it becomes quite a powerful meditation.

Or you could hold each finger for five minutes each – that’s 50 minutes – what you could do is put on a chill out cd and change the finger when the track changes, then you don’t have to watch the clock. If you feel particularly relaxed or fall asleep, don’t worry! It just means that your body is going through a deep harmonisation – there are no ’shoulds’ – Just go with the flow!

Jin Shin Jyutsu and The Present

If you REGRET the PAST (mind) and if you WORRY about the FUTURE (mind) then you miss the great GIFT of the NOW (BEING) which is why it is called THE PRESENT.

When you feel you are not in the present moment, when you feel overwhelmed, not grounded, up in the clouds or just not enjoying life (‘I HATE THIS!’) – HOLD YOUR THUMB. All you need to do is grab one of your thumbs with the opposite hand – hold and relax.

Jin Shin Jyutsu How To Move the Energy for a Happy New Year

Happy New Year! On many levels, 2008 has been a very challenging year for a lot of us. So wonderful then, that Jin Shin Jyutsu can help us move the energy so that we can get ‘unstuck’ and open up to receive the abundance that life offers. It’s ALL about harmonising the breath to let go of the old and let in the new.

The KEYS are found in the 26 Safety Energy Locks (SELs) on the body; 26 energy sites on the body each with a specific function. The two SELs that I am working on every day are SEL 1 and SEL 10. First I move the energy with SEL 1 then I receive the abundance with SEL 10.

Safety Energy Lock 1 is called The Prime Mover. It is found on the inside (medial side) of the knees. It connects extreme heights with extreme depths and harmonises us from head to toe because it helps the descending energy (which moves down the front) and the ascending energy (which moves up the back). If you want to change your life, hold SEL 1 every day for an hour. The complete 1 FLOW is found in Mary Burmeister’s Text 1 (of the Jin Shin Jyutsu 5-day basic seminar) on page 15 (laugh out loud – smile). Or hold your thumb.

Safety Energy Lock 10 is called The Warehouse of Abundance. It is found between the spine and the shoulderblade, half way down the shoulderblade. It releases an outpouring of limitless life energy when unlocked. The easiest way to open up SEL 10 is to hold the upper arms (high 19s as we call them). Cross your arms and hold your upper arms – this also opens SEL 9 which is found below SEL 10. The full 10 FLOW is found in Mary Burmeister’s Text 1 on page 21. Or hold the ring finger.

Exercise: Self Help for Insomnia – It WORKS!

Insomnia. Not being able to sleep. There might be several reasons for this. Sometimes if I go to bed hungry, I can’t sleep. Most often, I can’t sleep when my mind is full of THOUGHTS. The simplest way to combat insomnia is to hold your thumb.

Case 5: The Power of the THUMB

Someone says to me: ‘I can’t sleep, my mind is full of thoughts and worry.’ I say: ‘Hold your thumb.’ She holds her thumb and she is able to sleep. She says to me: ‘It was amazing! I held my thumb and the next thing I knew it was morning!’ So simple.

Someone says to me: ‘I have a long haul flight tomorrow and I know I’m going to be jet lagged for days and my body rhythms are going to be all over the place’. I say: ‘Hold your thumb (and the rest of your fingers, but mainly the thumb) throughout the flight. It’ll keep the energy moving and your bio rhythms won’t get so upset.’ Next thing I know, I get an email from my friend and he says: ‘How amazing! I hardly suffered from jet lag and I bounced back nearly effortlessly.’ There’s that word again – simple, effortless reality.

Exercise: Hold THUMB for WORRY

Hold your THUMB (either side) to harmonise the attitude of WORRY, and to help:

* Insomnia
* Digestion
* Headaches (esp. base of thumb)
* Stress and nerves
* Ground and calm
* Nurture
* Skin surface
* Stomach and spleen energy
* When have to SIT a lot
