Hello Astrid,
Thank you for this wonderful JSJ website. I just helped a friend who has terrible migraine headaches with the flows from there.

Question: In the section called Magic Exercise: Hold for a Facelift, the photo and the description do not match. The photo shows someone crossing their hands and holding opposite calves but the directions describe same-side holding. But this is further confused by the end of the description where it states ‘no need to cross your arms when you work on someone else’, implying that you are to cross your arms when palming on yourself.

This is such a powerful pair that I would love to know which is the better way to do it!

Thank you, AC from Santa Barbara

Answer: Dear AC – Thanks for getting in touch and apologies for the confusion! In actual fact, both are correct whether you cross the arms or not. If you cross you are doing one side and if you don’t you are doing the other side flow. However, don’t worry about that, your point is right in that the photo and the text did not match – and so I have corrected that below! Take care and enjoy!

To do this Jin Shin Jyutsu self help exercise which is great for deep skin clearing (so helps clear acne, etc), heals burns, and is great for a facelift (do 20 minutes every day for at least 2 weeks and your friends will start commenting on how good you look):

Cross your arms, and place the palm of your RIGHT hand (with fingers facing down towards your feet) on the LEFT calf (lower leg). Do the same for the palm of the LEFT hand on the RIGHT calf. If you’re working on someone else, lie her face up, stand at her feet facing her and place your LEFT palm on her RIGHT calf fingers facing up towards her head, and your RIGHT palm on her LEFT calf, fingers facing up towards her head (in this case you don’t cross the arms).

Someone asked me a question the other day about how to heal a wound FAST with Jin Shin Jyutsu. My brain, bless it, went crazy TRYING TO (sound familiar?) look for the ‘best’ and of course, most complicated answer – ‘do this flow and that flow and all these flows’ – that’s the problem when one is given such an extensively wonderful ‘menu’ to choose from. It was only later that I just RELAXED and I REMEMBERED how to BE instead of what to DO.

Intro – See this older post How the ENERGY moves through our hands

The EMERGENCY hold for healing a wound anywhere on the body FAST: place LEFT hand over RIGHT hand – then place the hands over the wound. Just place the RIGHT hand over the LEFT hand – then place the hands over the affected area. See this older post for this other Jin Shin Jyutsu Emergency Hold ESPECIALLY USEFUL FOR HEALING BURNS (use this hold first to draw out the burn, then the other hold to repair the skin….)

PS Thanks for the question.

Just place your RIGHT hand over your LEFT hand and hold over the affected part of the body. Again, if there is serious trauma, then don’t touch the body – hold your hands above it over the affected area.

Use this hold whenever you need to draw something out of the body.

I’ve used it incredibly successfully when for instance, my contact lens has moved to the back of my eye and I can’t get it out. Well, no more panic. A few seconds of the hands in this position over the eye and presto! like magic! It pops right out.

To get anything out of the eye quickly and easily – this is the hold. Tried and tested.

Also great for HEALING BURNS. If there is a burn accident, call the ambulance, and while you wait, place your hands in this position over the affected area – if the burns cover a lot of the body, get everyone and anyone available to join in – this hold will start DRAWING OUT THE BURN instead of it going deeper and deeper into the body.

Then there is a long list of things like: stings (poison ivy, nettle etc), infections, cysts, splinters, pain in an area of concentration like headache, toothache, tummy ache, etc.
